academic training

We aim to develop the next generation of leaders in clinical medicine, research and education by tailoring the academic training of each fellow to meet their career goals.

Our Approach

Our goal is to ensure that each fellow can pursue a project that matches their interests and prepares them for a successful career as an academic physician. To that end, we have a long track record of supporting fellows in their pursuit of academic excellence in a wide variety of activities. Through a structured process, each fellow identifies their long-term career goals and the Academic Pathway that best aligns with their interests - Investigation, Academic Clinical Medicine or Medical Education. Program leadership then assists each fellow with developing an individualized, comprehensive training program designed to provide them with the necessary skills to be competitive for academic faculty positions.

Regardless of the Academic Pathway selected, fellows receive mentorship from experienced faculty, have access to world-class hands-on and didactic training, and have the opportunity to participate in a number of career development activities (Academic Curriculum).
